We continuously work to improve occupational health and safety

We would like to make all our employees feel safe at work as much as possible. Therefore, occupational health and safety at work have the highest priority. We pay particular attention to complying with all legal requirements, and we constantly adapt our procedures and instructions in this area to the ever changing conditions and factors.

Occupational health and safety units operate in each company. We provide periodical occupational health and safety, fire protection and first-aid trainings to our employees.

[GRI 403-3]

Employees of Cyfrowy Polsat, whose positions require this, undergo specialist trainings with respect to safe work at height and safe work in electromagnetic fields, leading to acquisition of valid electrical qualifications certificates for working with currents of up to 1kV. The above mentioned tasks may be performed only by the employees who passed medical examination confirming lack of any counter indications for them to perform such type of work.

Employees of Polkomtel Infrastruktura, whose work involves exposure to electromagnetic fields, do not work in the danger zone. Employee who may potentially work within the range of electromagnetic fields perform their work in an intermediate or hazard zone. Their presence in an intermediate (protective) and hazard zone lasts not more than 8 hours during an entire work shift and is of incidental nature (it is not permanent work). Environmental measurements of electromagnetic fields are performed periodically, appropriate marking of respective hazard zones is used and the employees receive occupational health and safety instructions regarding work in electromagnetic fields. The work in the intermediate and hazard zones may be performed only by employees who have passed medical examination to determine that there are no counter indications for them to work within the electromagnetic fields (intermediate and threat zone), and who have been trained with respect to safe operation of the sources of electromagnetic fields and the rules of working in restricted zones.

Each employee may also refuse performing any hazardous work – there have never been and there will never be any negative consequences for such employees. Equipping the employees with personal protective equipment is a standard in our enterprise.

TV Polsat:

  • specialist trainings,
  • certificates issued by SEP (Association of Polish Electricians) for operation of devices with voltages of up to 1kV for all employees whose work is connected with operating live equipment;
  • training and the required equipment are provided for the people working at height;
  • regular measurements at the work stations where electromagnetic fields exist;
  • preliminary training (general and position-specific) in the fields of work and fire safety for each employee,
  • training in providing first aid.

1Data refer to Polkomtel and Polkomtel Infrastruktura.

2Injury Rate (IR), calculated as the total number of injured people in accidents / headcount x 1000.

3In the Report for 2017, as a result of graphical error, Lost Day Rate (LDR) – calculated as the rate of the total number of lost days to the number of planned hours of work of employees during the reporting period *200000 – was presented as the basis for calculations. Whereas, the presented data referred to the total number of lost days due to the accidents at work. The data for 2018 are presented in an analogous way.

4Accident severity rate, calculated as the number of lost days due to the accident / number of accidents.

5Occupational Disease Rate (ODR), calculated as <number of cases of occupational disease / total number of hours worked by all employees in a given period >* 200.000.

6Absentee Rate (AR), calculated as the total number of days absent at work / number of days worked during a year *200000.

In Cyfrowy Polsat Group there are no collective labor agreements. Each company covered by this Report has a separate Occupational Health and Safety Committee.

In Cyfrowy Polsat Group we also have the Civil Defence Formation. Its existence has largely contributed to minimizing the risk of safety and health hazards for the Group’s employees.
